The GR-9️⃣2️⃣ is a path that runs along the entire coastline and pre-coastal line, with great views over the Mediterranean and never strays far from the coast, although in certain sections it is inevitable that it does so. At some points it coincides with the coastal paths and passes through sites of great natural interest. The GR-9️⃣2️⃣, is part of the European path E-10 (Baltic-Mediterranean Sea), and links to the north with France and to the south with the Valencian Community. As a curiosity we will tell you that it has the number 92 in memory of the Barcelona Olympic Games held in 1992.
This path allows you to enjoy this magnificent environment by going out through some of its sections. It is a proposal that you can adapt to your needs, expectations or time and where we will explain how to find yourself in small coves with great charm and in natural spaces of great beauty and environmental value.
We start the tour in our apartments; in Torre Valentina and we will follow the promenades and the beaches of Sant Antoni de Calonge until we reach the Port of Palamós, accompanied at all times by the evil on our right🤩
From the fishing port you can continue along the "Vial" cart of Palamós and You arrive immediately at the Marina. This is where we can stop to enjoy the small Cala Margarida; Situated in a semi-urban setting, this seafaring-looking beach is flanked by a row of fishermen's houses, now converted into summer houses. From the left side of the beach there is a coastal path that borders the entire Cap Gros. This massif is covered with pine trees and does not present a single construction.
Continuing along the same road you arrive at Playa de la Fosca. Its name is due to the presence of a large black rock, with shallow waters and fine sand. Along the beach there is a pleasant promenade. Now we will leave the beach to take the new greenway, created in 2009. It passes near the towns of Vall-llòbrega and Mont-ras, and has access to Castell Beach.area of natural interest Cap Roig Castle channel flows into it Riera Aubi
Following the GR-9️⃣2️⃣ trail we will enter the natural space with typical Mediterranean vegetation. Along the stretch of this beach we find small coves such as Cala Sènia or Cala Estreta until we reach the Castle of Cap Roig, where we also find a fantastic botanical garden in any season of the year.
Now we enter and cross the beautiful town of Calella de Palafrugell. During the tour we must follow the white and red marks of the GR-9️⃣2️⃣. We continue along the path facing the sea until we reach Llafranc beach, we cross the entire bay and arrive at the port. We continue along the road until we reach the San Sebastián lighthouse.
San Sebastián, located at an altitude of 178 m, has been inhabited since ancient times; as evidenced by the remains of the Iberian settlement of San Sebastián de la Guarda, which are found in Puig itself. In the 15th century a watchtower was built and in the 18th century, responding to the growing cult of the area, the hermitage and hostelry was built, which has now been converted into a four-star hotel. The lighthouse dates from 1857 and is still one of the most powerful in the Mediterranean.
On the way back we suggest you get to Cap Roig, to enter again through the GR-9️⃣2️⃣, but this time, on the more inland side where you will find Dalí's Barraca. Following this path takes you back to the greenway, the old route of the small train, between Palafrugell and Palamós. From that point, you can now return along the promenade to the apartments.
We hope you liked this route and are encouraged to do it!
