Living cribs

Shepherds, peasants, laundresses, blacksmiths, the Magi, the pages, the angel, Joseph, the Virgin Mary, Jesus and ... the caganer! The living mangers are live representations of the biblical episode corresponding to the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.
In the Empordà the tradition of living nativity scenes is still very much alive and we encourage you to visit one of them:

  • In Calonge, the performance takes place on a route around the Castle.
  • In Castell d'Aro, represented since 1959, it takes place between the medieval center of Castell d'Aro and the natural area of the Vall de la Coma.
  • In Pals they take place in the Gothic Quarter of the municipality.
