In 1975, a delegation from Platja d'Aro traveled to Lucerne, Switzerland, and was captivated by the way they celebrated Carnival. That experience was key to shaping the party we know today.
So much so that, in 1978, in the midst of democratic transition in Spain, the first edition of the Playa de Aro Carnival was held, incorporating elements inspired by Swiss tradition and becoming one of the most emblematic festivals on the Costa Brava!
The resistance of Carnival during the Civil War
